Welcome to Mazar Development Fund
Mazar Development Fund is a new organisation, set up by Najaf Mazari, a refugee who left his homeland of Afghanistan in 2000 to start a new life in Australia. Najaf was born and raised in an area in the north of Afghanistan called Mazar-e-Sharif. The city of Mazar is renowned for its beauty, prosperity and industry. However, like the rest of Afghanistan, it struggles under the weight of conflict, poverty, violence, and unrest. Wanting to help the people of his homeland, Najaf and a group of his friends established the Mazar Development Fund Inc in 2007.
THE WORK OF THE MAZAR DEVELOPMENT FUND
The Mazar Development Fund aims to raise financial support for health and education programs in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan. Through partnerships with local and international NGOs that work with local communities in Mazar-e-Sharif, we aim to improve health services and educational resources available to the people of Mazar-e-Sharif and its surrounding area. In Australia it is hard to imagine the consequences of dire poverty and damage caused by thirty years of war and unrest. However, the reality is that every contribution that we make – small or large – can help improve the situation of the people of one of the poorest and most unstable countries in the World.
The Mazar Development Fund is committed to best practice in all of its work; both in fundraising and in implementation of projects on the ground in Afghanistan.
